Customizing your platform's URL is a great way to strengthen your organization's identity while providing a seamless user experience. Choosing a clear and easy-to-remember URL is crucial for your platform's accessibility and credibility. In this article, we explain how to select the ideal URL and configure it.
How to Choose Your URL?
- Be concise and meaningful: Opt for a short and relevant subdomain that is easy to remember and share. For example, prefer
participate.mycity.com
over i-participate.mycity.com
.
- Reflect your organization: Your URL should ideally include terms that make sense for your target audience, such as your organization's or project's name.
- Avoid special characters and numbers: Limit the use of hyphens and numbers in your URL. A simple and readable URL is always easier to memorize.
- Use universal words if possible: If your platform is multilingual, choose common or international words that will be understood in all available languages.

How to Configure Your URL?
Once you have chosen your subdomain, configuring the URL involves several steps with the help of our technical team.
Step 1: Choose and Register Your Domain
You must have a domain to configure your platform's URL.
- If you already have a domain, you can use it to create the URL.
- If you do not have a domain yet, you can purchase one from providers such as OVH, Gandi, or Namecheap.
Step 2: Validate Your URL
Once the domain and subdomain are selected, we proceed with validating your URL. Efalia Engage configures the URL on our servers, and a CNAME record is generated to associate it with your domain.
Step 3: Configure Your DNS
You must add the CNAME record to your domain through your DNS provider.
- Access your registrar (OVH, Gandi, AWS, etc.).
- Create a CNAME record pointing to the provided technical address (e.g.,
platform.engage.com
).
- Ensure you configure the SSL certificate (HTTPS) to guarantee a secure connection.
