The voting phase is a key moment in engaging your community. It allows participants to choose the projects that matter most to them and typically generates high participation. This guide explains how to set up this phase: defining voting rules, configuring criteria, and using tools to ensure a smooth and fair user experience.
Check out the article Vote for a contribution to understand how voting works for your users.
How to configure a voting phase?
To configure a voting phase, select the Vote
tab in your consultation and enter the following information:
- Voting start and end dates/times: Outside this period, users will not be able to vote. They will receive a notification at the start of the phase and a few days before it ends.
- Description: Specify your expectations for the voting phase.

How to customize voting rules?
Voting rules define how the voting process works: limiting the number of votes, allowing "against" votes, setting a budget cap, etc.
The voting rules configuration feature allows you to determine how participants can engage with contributions:
- Choose the type of voting: "For" only, or "For" and "Against".
- Limit the maximum number of votes.
- Set a minimum number of votes required for participation.
- Limit votes based on a budget envelope.
- Allow an unlimited number of votes.

For
A Support
button appears next to contributions. This is ideal for idea submissions where the goal is to gather initial reactions without discouraging project owners with "against" votes.
For or Against
Both Support
and Do not support
buttons appear next to contributions to measure user priorities.
